Healthy Foods for Busy People:
How to Save Time and Money with “One-Dish Meals,” Easy Recipes, and Cook-Ahead Prep

Welcome to the AOK Basic Skills Project at www.aokbasicskills.gratis. This workshop is part of John Kirk’s individual retirement project. AOK is not a company, organization or registered entity. “AOK Basic Skills Project” is its domain name. It is a personal, non-commercial effort. It offers short, basic skills workshops that provide an overview of the topic at hand and connect to free, professionally written websites that can be used for self-study on the topic.

 Introduction to Healthy Foods for Busy People

  • Its purpose is to help the participants learn how to save money on food expenses and improve their nutrition.

 Keep it simple!

  • This workshop will provide an overview on food budgeting, planning and purchasing; avoiding food waste; making quick, economical and nutritious meals in different ways by cooking; and cooking ahead. Free, professional materials from major institutions will be linked into.
  • Possibly a follow-up presentation can be scheduled to answer specific questions about the materials if necessary.
  • The immediate goal of the workshop is to help participants prepare a simple but healthy two-week rotating menu for their home that can help them save time and money.
  • Spanish URLs for workshop websites that are in English have been provided in the works cited when available.
  • A separate works cited has been provided for the websites presented in the PowerPoint presentation.

Optional: Participants can take part in an informal study comparing the amount spent on groceries and food services before the workshop and one month after it.
