Re: Offer to Share Six Native Speaker Academic Workshops for ages 3-18 and adults
Dear Director:
I’m a semi-retired ESOL teacher over 65 and lived in Ecuador for over 10 years before recently relocating to Portland, Maine in the U.S. I am the director of AOK, a charitable educational effort that was connected to my English school in Quito. AOK specializes in teaching life skills.
During the past three years, I have written 20 AOK Life Skill Workshops and before the Pandemic presented many of them throughout the Ecuadorian Sierra. I have masters’ degrees in Reading Education and English as a Second Language at the K-12 level.
The Seven Workshops
I have three workshops for helping parents to work with their grade K – 12 children and three for adult basic education (ABE) students. I would like to ask if you might be interested in my freely sharing them with your program.
They take about 50 minutes to present thru Zoom or in person. They are free and of possible interest to a ministry that works with the economically disadvantaged, a university that trains student teachers, or another type of organization.
The Curriculum
The workshops include one for pre-school storytelling, and one for the elementary and secondary levels with free materials and courses in the basic skills. For ABE students they include one for grade levels 1-2, one for levels 3-10, one for levels 11-12 and one for people who sell in the foreign market.
To see a more detailed explanation of these workshops, please read the course overviews in the second section section on this website which goes by the same name. The uniting theme of these presentations is “How you can use the Internet to improve your abilities in important academic and life skills”.
When they attend a workshop, the participants receive a digital folder The seven workshops offer free websites with basic skills materials and courses including keyboard instruction.
The long-term objective of the workshops
I have prepared these 7 AOK Workshops in support of UN 2030 Global Goals 4: Quality Education. The long-term objective is to collect informal, voluntary, and anonymous student evaluations to submit to ONU. If the evaluations are positive, ONU will be encouraged to offer educational websites with materials supporting these topics.
If you might be in agreement with asking the participants to fill out an evaluation, I have included copies of the evaluations and a summary form for you to take a look at. Relating the workshops to the UN Global Goals also provides the participants motivation to accomplish their learning objectives.
